American Citizen Planner – Indiana

American Citizen Planner – Indiana provides training to Indiana citizen planners who currently serve or plan to serve on area or advisory plan commissions. The program features 28 units of online content detailing core planning theories, practices, and processes. A comprehensive assessment and two virtual training events reinforce the content learned in the units. The program is hosted by a local Purdue Extension educator for either a county or a region.

The American Citizen Planner – Indiana Program is offered twice per year, in two sessions. Each session consists of ACP-IN 101, 201, the comprehensive exam, and two webinars. Course fees are required to complete registration. The program’s goal is to train participants in core competencies of service as a public planning official. Participants will build knowledge of theories, tools and legal aspects related to planning and working with the public and, thus equipped, help shape plans that guide the future of their communities.

  • Earn Master Citizen Planner Certificate
  • Understand the role and duties of the plan commissioner
  • Learn about current and emerging issues in planning from experts
